WORLDART JOHANNESBURG

After a successful first year at its premises on Church Street in Cape Town, Worldart has decided to open a second gallery in Johannesburg.

The gallery will be situated in Commissioner Street, where over the last two years, a significant amount of planning has gone into the rejuvenating of this part of city, otherwise known as the Financial district. An initiative started by Urban Ocean with support from the Johannesburg city council to improve this area resulted in a thorough clean-up operation, the installation of CCTV cameras and the restoration and re-designing of many buildings in the area. As a result this part of the city has slowly changed into an urban area with local and international upmarket appeal. We are optimistic and very excited about the potential that the immediate area holds for the future.

Having a gallery in Johannesburg will enable us to provide a better and more dedicated service to our Johannesburg clientele while at the same time offering the artists whom we work with the opportunity to show their work in two of South Africa’s major cities.

Worldart Johannesburg will open on April19, 2007 with an exhibition of paintings by Richard Scott.
