NELO TEIXEIRA: RESIDENCY

For the month of October Worldart Gallery will be hosting a solo show by Nelo Teixeira.

The Angolan based artist is currently participating in a residency program at the AVA Gallery Salon Studio in association with Worldart Gallery and ELA – Espaço Luanda  for the months of August and September. The residency will conclude with an exhibition at both Worldart Gallery as well as AVA Gallery.

Nelo re-purposes found objects like paint trays, wood, hessian and other raw materials to create artworks that speak to the forced removal of people and demolition of living spaces in his neighbourhood, Chicala (Luanda), in order to make way for new developments.

The exhibition opens on First Thursday 4 October.
